Huawei Announces Android Rival HarmonyOS

Chinese tech giant Huawei on Friday unveiled its mobile operating system, Harmony, to ensure its fast-growing smartphone business can withstand a US government crackdown on the company. The company said the HarmonyOS is a microkernel-based dispersed OS for all stages including cell phones, wearables, PCs, and TVs.

Called HarmonyOS, Huawei says that this new operating system has been designed to work on a multitude of different devices from smartphones to smart home equipment in an effort to increase software unity. Furthermore, the platform supports RAM sizes ranging from KB to gigabytes. The Chinese tech mammoth said the OS will be publicly released with its own ARK compiler. It will likewise bolster existing Android applications. Huawei will initially dispatch the OS on keen TVs, and it’ll touch base on wearables and PCs by 2020. In China, the OS will be called HongMeng, however to those outside of the Asian country, it’ll pass by HarmonyOS.
